5 Feminist movies to watch 1. Hidden Figures (2017) The movie talks about the story of a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program. It is so inspirational and entertaining with winning performances across the board and an incredibly valuable history lesson. Also, is available on Disney plus. 2. The help (2011) An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African American maids' point of view on the white families for which they work, and the hardships they go through on a daily basis. It's available for rent at Amazon prime.  3.Gloria: In her own words (2011) A documentary about Gloria Steinem whose career as a journalist and a pivotal member of the feminist movement has left an indelible mark. The documentary itself is not perfect but it is very important to watch it. It's available on HBO. 4. Queen of Katwe (2016) Living in the sl...

Hair care routine by Larissa

Image
My hair care routine💇 Hello guys! Today I am writing this post to share how I usually do my hair care. To start, I wanted to share a bit about my personal experience dealing with my hair. When I was a little kid my hair was super curly (I miss that ☹ ), but I remember at certain point it started to get wavier which I hated. I think we all have/had that phase when you do not like your hair at all or the way it looks. So, for me it was always a struggle. My parents couldn’t afford good shampoos and hair care in general therefore for years that leaded me to low self-esteem. It took me many years and chemical products for hair care to have my hair in the way that I wanted and have self-esteem back so I wanted to share some of the products I use that might work for you as well. **Just a reminder I am not an expert and this post in not sponsored, keep that in mind. ** 😊   ⭐ For shampoo I usually like to have at least two different options, these below works best for m...

Improving eating habits during quarantine by Larissa

Image
In the past months we have been living stressful times and sometimes, to find a way to relive our frustrations and anxiety eating habits have changed.  I n this post, I  want to share a little bit of my personal experience and what I have done to improve things that got somehow out of control during quarantine.  Personally, I am a bit anxious and during this pandemic it got harder to have control on some things. I caught myself so many times eating lots of “trash food” or candy not just because I was hungry but frustrated. After some months and some weight gained, I decided that things needed to change. Here are some tips that I found helpful:  •  First thing I did since all the gyms were closed was buy an indoor bike (there are many other activities to do for free or cheaper) but for me it has been soooo good.  Our bodies need to  move ! T hat will help you so much in combination with good eating habits.  •  Cutting some...

We know that finals are starting by the end of this week, and that can be incredibly stressful times for many, even outside the stress that we are exposed to in our every day life at the moment. So we at the women's resource center wanted to share our favorite de-stress tips and recommendations.  - take a walk, we know it's easy to get stuck in school work and never-ending instagram scrolling, however, taking a walk outside can be great way to regroup and take a breather.  - take a nap, sleep, sleep is so so important for so many reasons.  - check in on family or friends, we know that isolation is a big issue now during covid, so take a break from studying and call a friend or family member you like.  - lastly have fun, listen to your body and take care of your self.  - and if you are looking for some community and fun, join us at our virtual women's resoruce center to play some games and watch a movie of Thursday (Dec 10th) between 2-4 PM on Zoom meeting ID: 67...
